District groups

South Gloucestershire stretches from the River Severn (both of the Severn Crossings are in South Gloucestershire) and reaches almost the edge of Bath, including the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around Marshfield and Cold Ashton.

North Somerset covers an area that stretches from the Severn Estuary and River Avon in the north to the Mendip Hills in the south. More than two thirds of the district is rural with around half of the land in Green Belt (map to come).

We support the provision of attractive, well designed and good quality homes close to shops, public transport, schools, leisure facilities and workplaces, reliable public transport systems, and green spaces in towns and cities, whether communal areas or in private gardens.

The Bath and North East Somerset area is an important one in the context of rural England, and mirrors many of the challenges faced nationally in balancing economic growth with protecting what is special about our countryside.
