Local Food

We believe that the countryside around our cities should be used to grow high quality, fresh, local food to supply local residents and businesses. Our farms and farmers are central to how our countryside looks and how healthy and diverse it is. They maintain hedgerows, walls, pastures, meadows, woods and traditional buildings that contribute to what makes our local countryside special and contribute to its unique character.

Buying local food helps to support our unique local countryside. Buying and eating fresh local vegetables can also support your health, and it ensure your money benefits local businesses rather than benefiting large national supermarkets. We love the independent high streets and cafes that are now more of a rarity, but make life diverse, interesting and unique.

We want to see an increase the proportion of food produced in our local Green Belt supplying Bristol and Bath. We’re so fortunate to have a Green Belt, we must use and appreciate it otherwise we risk it being taken away.
